David Sinclair’s AMA: Age Reversal Breakthroughs, FDA Approval, and Living Forever

Posted by in categories: biotech/medical, genetics, life extension, Peter Diamandis

The whole interview is good and informative but starts with Sinclair commenting that at the moment he thinks living to 150 is possible in our lifetimes but not immortality. But given that, I’m 51. If I’m going to live potentially another century the technology will get better and better in that century and I would fully expect to life spans to become what we want rather than what we have to accept.

In this Ask Me Anything session, David and Peter discuss the latest age-reversal breakthroughs, getting approval from the FDA, and the possibility of living forever.
David Sinclair is a biologist and academic known for his expertise in aging and epigenetics. Sinclair is a genetics professor and the Co-Director of Harvard Medical School’s Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research. He’s been included in Time100 as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, and his research has been featured all over the media. Besides writing a New York Times Best Seller, David has co-founded several biotech companies, a science publication called Aging, and is an inventor of 35 patents.

Slowing speed of aging will increase life expectancy.

Peter Diamandis, the founder of the Singularity University and the X Prize Foundation has a goal for the next decade: to add 20 or 30 healthy years to people’s life. Or, in other words, making 100 years old the new 60s. He presents his vision during “Priorities”, a summit that took place on September 2022 in New York and organized by the FII Institute. From Pessimism to Optimism Despite the Headlines

Posted by in categories: biotech/medical, climatology, evolution, Peter Diamandis, sustainability

Why we need to adopt an abundance mindset.

Peter Diamandis shared an email blast about dire headlines that keep us on edge: the war in Ukraine, food and gasoline prices, climate change, and the neverending pandemic. Getting away from bad news is difficult, it appears, because of the way we are wired. Mass media feeds the bad far more than the good.

In his missive, Peter talks about Matt Ridley, a zoologist, who wrote and published The Rational Optimist in 2010. The book takes a profoundly optimistic view of human progress, a counterblast to the prevailing pessimism of our day. Ridley coined the phrase “moaning pessimism” to describe the current state.

Magic Leap 2 Controller May Use On-board Inside-out Tracking, an Industry-first

Posted by in categories: electronics, Peter Diamandis

A new photo of Magic Leap 2 appears to show the device’s controller equipped with cameras for inside-out tracking which would be the first time we’ve seen the approach employed in a commercial XR headset.

Though we learned plenty of interesting details about the forthcoming Magic Leap 2 AR headset back in January, it looks like there’s still some secrets left to uncover.

A recent photo of Magic Leap 2 posted by Peter H. Diamandis is, as far as we know, the first time we’ve gotten a clear look at the front of the Magic Leap 2 controller. The photo clearly shows what appear to be two camera sensors on the controller, indicating a high likelihood it will have on-board inside-out tracking.

Peter Diamandis Describes How Applying AI to Drug Discovery is Causing Positive Disruption to Biopharma

Posted by in categories: biotech/medical, Peter Diamandis, robotics/AI

The content of Peter’s email blast has been edited by me (can’t help myself). But I believe I have captured its essence and hope you enjoy the retelling. As always your comments are welcomed.

What is Insilico Medicine?

Insilico Medicine is a pioneering drug company that is powered by a “drug discovery engine” that sifts through millions of data samples to determine the signature biological characteristics of specific diseases. It then identifies the most promising treatment targets and uses a new AI technique called generative adversarial networks (GANs) to create molecules perfectly suited against them.
