Zubin Wadia
Zubin Wadia is CEO & Co-Founder of
CiviGuard, Inc.,
CEO & Co-Founder of
RedRock IT Solutions, and Chief Technology Officer
at
ImageWork Technologies.
CiviGuard is a new mobile-based solution for emergency
communications.
At heart it is an alerts and notification system, with messages
distributed via text messages, an HTML5 web app, push notifications, and
social media services like Twitter. The product was developed by 3
students of Singularity University: Zubin Wadia, Shawna Pandya, and
Timothy Coleman. It was inspired by 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and other
recent crises.
Zubin is a parallel technology entrepreneur with a passion for Open
Data, Gov 2.0 and positive social impact. He is the founder of CiviGuard
Technologies, RedRock IT Solutions and a partner at ImageWork
Technologies. Over the last 10 years he has deployed complex process
automation and content management systems for Government agencies and
Fortune 500 companies.
He is especially familiar with the City of New York’s agencies such as
FDNY, NYPD, Department of Health, and the Department of Design and
Construction. Over his career he has remained fiercely independent when
it comes to technology platform choices — having implemented
solutions on
Java, Open Source, .NET and mobile platforms.
He enjoys programming whenever possible — with Scala, Erlang,
Haskell
being current favorites. Zubin was one of 40 students selected to attend
the Graduate Studies Program at Singularity University, a institution
sponsored by NASA and Google for the development of future technology
leaders. He is the author of three books on software development and
architecture in addition to being on the Java Content Repository 2.0
expert group.
Zubin’s main area of research is in “Intelligent Composites”, a
self-coined
term for the process of assessing technological & business conditions
for a planned system and architecting a durable & scalable platform for
it. Distributed computing & conversation patterns excite him – thus
making Eric Brewer, Jim Gray, Roy Fielding, Werner Vogels & Gregor Hohpe
people he admires. He currently spends his free time understanding the
applicability of conversation patterns and distributed computing
principles to process oriented concepts such as Colored Petri-Nets,
Markov chains, and Phase transitions.
His specialities include:
Mobile Development (iPhone, Android, Symbian, WinPhone, Blackberry &
WAP), NoSQL (Cassandra & MongoDB), Offshore-Onsite Team Setup &
Collaboration. Distributed Systems Architecture (Balancing Consistency,
Availability & Partition Tolerance). RESTafarianism, Standard ECM / BPM
stuff too (Websphere Process Server, Documentum, FileNET, Alfresco, and
Intalio).
Zubin coauthored
Facelets Essentials: Guide to JavaServer Faces View Definition
Framework and
The Definitive Guide to Apache MyFaces and Facelets.
