Zhang, Ph.D. is
Assistant Professor, Management of Innovation at
Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Stephen actively spearheads effort on innovation in both Chile and
worldwide. He studies how to make decisions on innovation in a
constantly evolving and uncertain context, characterized by rapid
advancements of technologies and frequent shifts in macroeconomic,
environment, market demand, and policies. He develops practical
frameworks to help organizations with the complex task of managing and
valuing innovation.
His research has been published in top academic journals such as
Decision Support Systems and Risk Analysis and he works with both large
and small-but-fast-growing organizations extensively through executive
programs and various projects.
Prior to becoming a professor, Stephen had engineering experiences at
STMicroelectronics and Siemens AG, management consulting experiences at
Titan Group and Mckinsey, and research experiences at National
University of Singapore and Singapore Delft Water Alliance (SDWA).
At the university, Stephen also leads the Innovation Certificate and the
agreement with Stanford on technology venture, and he is a member of
Innovation Factory, the top think tank in Chile on innovation based in
the Pontificia Catholic University of Chile.
Stephen earned his Ph.D. in Engineering Technology Management at the
National University of Singapore in 2010.
He earned his Bachelor of Engineering at Nanyang Technological
University, Singapore.
