Peg Kay, MPA

Peg Kay, MPA is President Emeritus of the Washington Academy of Sciences. She served as Executive Director of the Academy from 2008 through 2012.
 
From 1987 to 2011, after she retired from her “day job”, she was president of Vertech, Inc. a telecommunications consulting company. Earlier, she was Chief, Program Development for the Institute for Computer Sciences and Technology/National Bureau of Standards (now NIST).
 
She has been the recipient of a number of awards. While at the Institute of Computer Sciences and Technology, she received the Federal Laboratory Consortium Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer and a U.S. Department of Commerce Science and Technology Fellowship; she earned the Broadcast Industry Silver Anniversary Broadcast Presentor Award for work done when she was a research associate at the Cable Television Information Center/Urban Institute; and she was a Fellow-in-Residence at the Office of Telecommunications Policy/Executive Office of the President.
 
Peg is the coauthor of a textbook on public management, Government Oversight and Evaluability Assessment. On her retirement in 2012, she has devoted her time to writing “cozy” mysteries, three of which have received the Washington Academy of Sciences Seal of Approval. The Seal, which has been granted to such diverse works as Karl Pribram’s The Form Within, and Dan Berleant’s The Human Race to the Future certifies that the science described in the book is accurate.
 
Of Peg’s books, the first, Me Tarzan You Dead, deals with robotics. The second, The Case of the Eclipsed Astronomer, describes the way astronomers work. The third, A Fine Climate for Murder, discusses climate change. She is currently working on a fourth book, Blood will Snitch, due for publication in the first quarter of 2015, covers forensic science.
