Paul Hynek, MBA
is Director of Business Affairs at Giant Studios.
Paul has worked in a variety of industries around the world, from
product
development to education to finance to entertainment to what he really
likes, high tech and software.
He’s now happily ensconced at Giant Studios, home of the “real”
Pandora.
Giant Studios is the world leader in performance capture and virtual
production. Starting with Gollum in
Lord of the Rings, they’ve done

Paul recently did
Tintin with Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, and
for
almost five years,
Avatar was shot in his studio. Whenever you see a
Na’vi move, that’s him. Working with Jim Cameron, he also pioneered a
“virtual camera” which allows filmmakers to see their CG world, in this
case, Pandora, with their characters, in real time.
He is active in nonprofits. He’s former Board Chair of the American
Red
Cross of Santa Monica, is on the Board of the Santa Monica Symphony, and
after creating “Project Hometree” for the launch of Avatar,
has
remained involved with the
La Reserva Forest Foundation in Costa Rica.
Paul earned an MBA from The Wharton School of Business, an MA from the
University of Pennsylvania in International Studies, and a BA from the
University of Illinois.
