Nino (Typhoon) Marcantonio

Nino (Typhoon) Marcantonio is the Deputy Director and Vice Chairman at the Defense Technology Innovation Association (DTIA) and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Marcantonio Global, a global technology innovation consulting company and a private entity that laid out the foundation of the Defense Technology Innovation Program.

DTIP was established as a public-private partnership program with the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense. They work with the US Department of Defense in promoting the advancement of US national security and defense acquisition strategies, and scout globally for innovative, revolutionary technologies that have direct or indirect military applications for the United States of America.

DTIP’s Future Tech Forums reach over 900 senior executives and key acquisitions officers across the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Space Force, as well as the Office of Secretary of Defense. Their mission is “protecting and preserving the force” through “smart modernization”. In addition, DTIP has brought in over 60 breakthrough innovations to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, to the US Navy NAVSEA Disruptive Technology Laboratory, and to Acquisition and Sustainment.

Special interest areas of the program include, Artificial Intelligence Applications, Autonomous Unmanned Systems, Open Source Intelligence Innovations, Cyberwarfare Innovations, Novel Energy Systems, New Business Process engineering, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Robotic Process Automation, Intelligent Automation, Blockchain, Neuroscience advancements, and Nanotechnology.

Since 2020, Nino has been the Strategic Advisor at Geometric Space Corporation, advising on CubeSat missions integration and logistics for payloads launching to LEO and the moon. Geometric Space Corporation (GSC) is a subsidiary of Geometric Energy Corporation, a research and development firm founded in 2015. GSC provides cost-effective CubeSat rideshare programs, dedicated FireFly Alpha launches, and satellite data services.

Nino was an Ex Officio Advisor to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Director at OUSD (P&R) on Force Education and Training, specializing in Modernization and Innovation. In that role, he led reform efforts, strategy development, and the creation of standard operating procedures relating to the Institutional Compliance Programs, program oversight, policy directives, and the establishment of a series of Memorandums of Understanding. He helped reshape data management systems to improve interoperability including linkages to legacy systems.

Previously, from 2017 until 2018, Nino was a Systems Compliance Expert at Appereon Business Solutions where he was providing overall policy guidelines for voluntary education programs in the Department of Defense.

He was a global petroleum technology and refining broker with AGC International from 2016 to 2018. They are a world-leading manufacturer of petroleum fluid distillation and filtration equipment.

Through FEMA, Nino was also Team Lead at Dextera Corporation in 2017 and Business Information Analyst of SME at CACI International supporting the Federal Railway Administration Office of Safety, Dept. of VA, Dept. of Transportation, Dept. of Homeland Security, and the Security Exchange Commission. He was a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) specialist and was improving response time to Requests For Information (RFIs) across the regions.

As a volunteer, Nino is Industry Chair of the Blockchain Forum and Industry Strategic Advisor for the Artificial Intelligence Forum at the American Council for Technology — Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) and is in the Advisory Council at the StellarModal Transportation Association.

Nino earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Business from the University of Maryland in 2004, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business in 2000, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1999, both from American University.

Nino is also a former (between 2004 and 2006) professional soccer player in the USA and Italy and was a member of the U.S. Soccer Men’s U-20 National Team in 2000, leading the team with six goals in the Europe Cups in 2000. He was also a superstar coach on Coachup.com, which is one of the most trusted online platforms to search for the right sports coach. He also holds free Soccer Clinics at Holy Rosary Church.
