Kashif Hasnie
is a futurist with a firm belief that resources are
abundant, as long as appropriate technology and innovative techniques
are adopted. His current thrust of work involves transformation
innovation and entrepreneurship giving solutions to the global grand
challenges.
He is Senior Fellow with the Center for Unconventional Security Affairs
at University of California, Irvine, where his focus has been his area
of expertise for the last several years — natural resources of
South
Asia, which has been the region of attention for the United States
government since 9/11. As part of the Smart Power Initiative, started by
the US President, Barack Obama, Kashif advised the White House and the
US Department of State on general atmospherics with an emphasis on
natural resources in South and Central Asia.
Kashif is a regular commentator on the media. His views and analyses are
much sought after, especially in Washington, DC, where he is still
consulted by the US Department of State, the World Bank, US Department
of Commerce, and Brookings Institution, where he occasionally
contributes his writings. Apart from his media appearances, Kashif is a
frequent speaker at several forums. He brings a unique perspective with
an extremely rich academic background, which includes stints at places
like Singularity University at the NASA Ames Research Park in Silicon
Valley, and the RAND Corporation in Washington, DC.
