John Watts, MIL
is Homeland and National Security Consultant for
Noetic, based in
Washington D.C. He has recently been involved in a number of projects
which look at U.S. Combatant Command steady state strategy development
best practices, ISR capability demonstrations along the U.S. / Mexico
border, USMC future interagency approaches, and the evolution of future
irregular and conventional military technologies.
Previously he was a staff officer at the Australian Department of
Defence
for 4 years, and have been in the Australian Army Reserve for over 12
years. He has held a wide variety of positions and subsequently have a
broad range of experiences in different facets of Defence and strategic
affairs. As a Defence staff officer he held positions in strategic
policy, capability development, strategic logistics, preparedness
management, and in the setting up and reviewing of higher level command
and control arrangements.
In a military (Reserve) capacity he has held various sub-unit commands
within APC and light cav environments. He also has experience in
recruiting, course management, and as a training coordinator and
instructor. He has spent time in Northern Australia conducting disaster
planning and management and facilitation of garrison services and
support, including large international exercises. He has experience in
producing a wide variety of documentation and reports, has participated
in the management and oversight of large projects and has experience in
the planning and execution of high profile events. He is currently on
exchange with the U.S. Army National Guard.
John was also instrumental in the stand up and development of the Kokoda
Foundation’s Young Strategic Leaders Committee, and planned and executed
numerous high profile events for the YSLF program.
John earned his Diploma of Government and his Diploma of Personnel and
Operations Management at
Royal Military College, Duntroon in 2002.
He earned his Bachelor in International Studies
and his Diploma in Languages (Indonesian)
at the University of Adelaide in 2003.
He completed the UCDC Internship Program at the
University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2004.
He earned an Honors in Arts (International Studies) at the University
of Adelaide in 2004.
He earned his Masters in International Law at
The Australian National University in 2009.
