Emilija Kolar
Emilija Kolar
is currently a Marketing Management student at BCIT,
and Team Member, Vancouver Chapter at
Acumen Fund.
Immigrating to Canada during the Yugoslavian Civil War, Emilija has long
been fascinated with the actions of individuals analyzed in aggregate. A
consistent habit of questioning the motivations of “herds” lead to her
passion for understanding market-based solutions to complex problems.
During her studies she lead Students in Free Enterprise as a project
manager for the much acclaimed Lions Lair project, Emilija was selected
as the SIFE BCIT Venture Partner award recipient for her role in
bringing market solutions to bootstrap BC charities into profitable,
investable businesses. Now in the final year of her Bachelor of Business
Administration degree at BCIT, Emilija has distinguished herself by
being selected for The Vancouver Board of Trade’s Leaders of Tomorrow
program.
Excelling in calculus and economics, Emilija is now pursuing her
interest in herd mentality by coupling the quantitative rigor of her
science background with her macroeconomic studies to better understand
the performance of financial markets.
Outside of school, Emilija has kept herself busy as an active member of
the Vancouver chapter of Acumen Fund where she champions market-oriented
approaches to delivering critical goods and services like health, water,
and housing. She has also worked as a Project Manager with the BC
Women’s Hospital Foundation while developing her skills as a strategic
capital markets advisor through an internship at Sequoia
Partners.
Emilija knows English and Serbian and some French.
