Dr. Bill Bigge
Bill Bigge, Ph.D.
is Director of Creative Robotics.
Creative Robotics makes technology for creative robot builders. Their
first product — the HUB-ee — makes the task of building
small wheeled
robots easier and more fun by putting everything you need inside the
wheel. Just bolt some HUB-ee wheels to a chassis and then plug them into an
Arduino to get an instant robot.
Bill’s papers include
Programmable Springs: Developing Actuators with Programmable
Compliance for Autonomous Robots,
Implicit Fitness Functions for Evolving a Drawing Robot,
Towards Autonomous Artworks,
Evolvable Physical Self-Replicators,
The Drawbots,
The Evolution of Motor Control,
Evolvable Mechanics: Hardware Tools for Evolutionary Robotics, and
The Elongation Catastrophe in Physical Self-Replicators.
Bill earned his MSc in Evolutionary and Adaptive Systems at the University
of Sussex in 2003. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and
Artificial Intelligence at the University of Sussex in 2009.
