Dr. Andras G. Lacko
Andras G. Lacko, Ph.D. is Professor of Molecular Biology and
Immunology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort
Worth
TX.
He is also a member of the Institute for Cancer Research.
Andras completed his education at the University of British Columbia,
Vancouver, Canada and at the University of Washington, Seattle WA, where
he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry in 1968. After a post-doctoral
fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, he
continued his research at the Albert Einstein Medical Center,
Philadelphia PA and at Temple University Health Science Center,
Philadelphia, PA. In 1975, he took a position of Associate
Professor at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine/North Texas State
University in Fort Worth/Denton.
Most of his research has involved the structure/function and
metabolism of plasma lipoproteins, key components of cholesterol
transport. Since 1998, his research interest has been focused on
using synthetic lipoproteins as drug carriers, particularly for cancer
chemotherapy. He has published over 100 articles and has given
numerous presentations at international meetings and Academic
institutions around the world. He organized four international meetings
on high density lipoproteins and reverse cholesterol transport. He
continues to pursue his research goals, publish articles, and is a
member
of grant review panels and editorial boards.
Andras coauthored the following articles:
Recent Developments and
Patenting of Lipoprotein Based Formulations,
High density lipoprotein complexes as delivery vehicles for
anticancer drugs,
Prospects and
challenges of the development of lipoprotein based drug formulations for
anti-cancer drugs,
Doxorubicin transport by RALBP1 and ABCG2 in lung and breast
cancer,
Lipoprotein Nanoparticles as Delivery Vehicles for Anti-cancer
Therapy,
